Six Feet Up CTO talks Deploying a Django Virtual Event Platform at PyGotham 2021

Calvin Hendryx-Parker, Six Feet Up CTO and AWS Community Hero, discussed the design behind LoudSwarm, the company’s virtual event platform, during a presentation at the 2021 PyGotham conference.

In his presentation, “Deploying a Django Virtual Event Platform Using Containers and Terraform,” Calvin goes over the thinking and technologies used to bring LoudSwarm into production using cloud native tools. You can read more about the development of LoudSwarm here.

Among other things, Calvin discusses:

  • setting up the workstation to make the developer experience as close as possible to what will be in production,
  • using Terraform to model out development environments,
  • the architecture behind the application’s delivery; and
  • how developer tools and associated tools interact in the design.
