Six Feet Up and Abstract Edge to lead Design and Development of new Indiana Historical Society Plone Site
October 07, 2009
The Indiana Historical Society (IHS) partnered with Six Feet Up and Abstract Edge earlier in the year to kick off a discovery phase for the construction of their new website. This discovery phase resulted in a site map, wireframes, functional technical specifications, and many other deliverables.
Starting this Fall, Six Feet Up and Abstract Edge will be collaborating on a design and Plone development effort that is scheduled to be completed in the Spring of 2010.
The new Indiana Historical Society website will provide an array of communication tools to keep their audience up to date on their various programs and services. In addition to content-managed news and events, the site will provide multiple authors with the ability to blog, and will carefully control roles and permissions driving the management of all site content. Multiple slideshows and videos will provide visitors with a dynamic multimedia experience.
The site will also serve as a resource for educators thanks to a rich catalog of historical documents, daily references to events of the past, and a custom "IHS Discovery" feature displaying items of historical value. Visitors will also be able to submit their own content for publication.
The Indiana Historical Society will strive to expand its reach by integrating social media tools, such as RSS, Facebook, Twitter, You Tube, and Flickr, into its web communication strategy.
