XUL

XUL (XML User-interface Language) is the product of the minds behind the popular Firefox web browser.  It is a flexible markup language that allows application authors to use HTML-like development methods and apply them to client side applications.

Thanks to XUL's XML roots, XUL applications can incorporate HTML layouts, JavaScript, Flash movies and RDF data as well as native XUL elements to present a rich experience to the user.  Our background in XUL development allows us to provide entirely XUL applications, as well as applications that integrate with the Firefox web browser as add-ons; once we've finished, you can take the app to any platform that supports rendering XUL, such as Windows or Mac OS X.

XUL has been used successfully in many popular applications, including:

  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Mozilla Thunderbird
  • Joost
  • Democracy Player
  • AllPeers
  • Songbird
Thanks to the extensibility of the Mozilla platform, XUL can be extended and reused using the powerful XPCOM framework and XBL binding descriptions.  For more information about XUL and other Mozilla technologies, visit developer.mozilla.org.
